In Honour of Black History Month: Courtney & Angela

Image

Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett are the standard of black love and marriage that works!  Married for 14 years (15 in October), they’ve shown us that despite the pressures of Hollywood, despite personal issues with conception, and despite any typical problems that most couples have, it is, in fact, possible to have a successful, fulfilling marriage.

We love your Courtney and Angela, keep showing us what love looks like!

To learn how this couple does it, purchase and read their book Friends: A Love Story.

In Honour of Black History Month: Mary J & Kendu

Mary J. Blige and her boo, Kendu Isaacs, are a couple that certainly makes us proud to be black!  It’s evident that Mary J’s hit “No More Drama” was not just a song but a declaration for their personal lives and marriage as well.  We love you two, keep making beautiful music together!

Happy Black-American History Month!

In Honour of Black History Month: The Longest Living Married Couple!

Image

85 years of marriage!  WOW!!  Can they write a book and give it us each when we get married??  Herbert (104) and Zelmyra (101) Fisher of North Carolina are the longest living married couple and who better to feature for our Black History post than them.  Who cares that this isn’t a wedding picture.  Shooting for a wonderful 85 year marriage is what the wedding day is all about.

Thank you for showing us how to do it.

In Honour of Black History Month: Nick & Mariah

So Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey surprised EVERYONE when they eloped in 2008.  They renew their vows every year and now share two adorable twin babies: Moroccan and Monroe.  I think they just might have a that staying power and they have an absolutely beautiful family.

I appreciate black love and black marriages!  Thanks for making lovely music.  Literally 🙂
