Avington Park

Avington Park is a privately owned stately home and is perfect for wedding ceremonies and receptions, with entry to the House along the historic lime tree drive and to the magnificent frontage of the Palladian mansion.

The house is set in its own parkland, bordering the River Itchen with magnificent views across the parkland. The House boasts wonderful rooms – the beautifully painted main hall, the library overlooking the south lawns, adjoining and leading onto a unique pair of conservatories and the ballroom upstairs with magnificent gold plasterwork ceiling and painted panels – yet Avington retains the atmosphere and warmth of a family home.

Guests may enjoy the lawns and views in summer and winter with the added bonus of welcoming log fires in the colder months.

We have a choice of excellent caterers, who provide great service and fantastic food.

Something Turquoise {daily bridal inspiration}

While sitting down with one of my adorable brides a few months ago… she showed me a picture from Pinterest of rock candy in champagne glasses  – they looked so cute, we were both in love with the idea. As we were discussing more wedding planning, the topic of escort and seating cards came up – and how difficult seating many guests with no seating cards can be. Escort and seating cards are different! Escort cards actually escort your guests to their appropriate table and seating cards tell your guest which place setting is reserved for them. Enter my idea to combine the adorable rock candy in champagne glasses with seating cards… dearest Laura… this DIY is for you!

I was delighted when the wonderful Deep Grey Photography sent me this beautiful wedding and engagement shoot. The couple’s happiness radiates through each and every shot. This wedding is definitely making us smile today:)

Will and Alicia’s relationship began over email, whilst working for the same company in different offices. When they were transferred to the same office, sparks flew and the couple’s friendship quickly escalated into a romance. 5 years on the couple still love working alongside each other.

Will took Alicia for a short stroll through Sirromet Winery after lunch one very special day, they admired the beauty around them and the cute, jumping wallabies. They came to a beautiful lake chapel where Will got down on one knee and asked Alicia to be his wife. From that time on, they knew where their ceremony would be held!

My fiancée and I love shopping together. He’s my favourite shopping partner and these days I’d probably pick shopping with him over one of my girlfriends. When it came to shopping for my perfect wedding dress I hated that I had to do it without him and keeping it a secret is proving even harder! So why do we do it? Am I really scared that showing him my wedding dress before the big day will doom my marriage to years of bad luck?

Weddings are wrapped in customs and tradition. Brides who have strayed from tradition their whole lives find themselves indulging in the century old do’s and don’ts that a wedding brings. When you really think about it, it’s actually quite bizarre – a garter is welcomed to a usually garterless leg, we carefully wear ‘something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue’ and for the first…

Today’s inspiration shoot comes with a message… A request, of sorts. Not only is it beautiful, it is heartfelt. The fresh pastel flowers and playfully styled fruit and candy buffet are made all the more fun by the presence of smiles, laughter and tree climbing.

“Remember the 1991 movie My Girl?” asks Lina Bteddini, Stylist and the driving creative force behind this shoot. “It was all about the unbreakable friendship between a young boy and girl. The idea inspired me to create a shoot along the same lines, but of course, with brides and grooms in miniature.” Lina wanted to capture the sweet, precious moments that can be created by including children in your wedding. And she echoes something I have heard from many a bride… “Sometimes the most magical moments on the day are those that aren’t planned.”

I love the lightness and laughter behind this shoot. The…

As it’s Friday (yay!) we have some sweet inspiration to get your mouths watering and ready to indulge this weekend! The lovely Claire Appleby, buffet stylist at The Candy Buffet Company is guest blogging today and is revealing how to plan your candy buffet to perfection.

Candy BuffetTiffany's candy buffet
Claire: “Regardless of whether you are hiring a candy buffet professional or doing it yourself, there are a few important considerations involved in the successful delivery of a candy buffet that have very little to do with what goes into the jars. The how and where of a candy buffet is just as important as the what.
Let’s begin with how you are going to position the candy buffet at your reception. You really have three alternatives:

  1. It can be either tucked away in a discreet area of the room or the foyer of the venue or
  2. Place it as the very centerpiece of the…

In Honour of Black History Month: Chris & Keasha

Image

This is one is a very sad, but nonetheless beautiful story.  Retired NBA player, Chris Draft, was married to his lovely wife Keasha just one month before he lost her to lung cancer.  The couple married in a private Atlanta ceremony on November 27th, 2011.

Even though this story had a sad end, it is a beautiful testament to love and, to me, made all the more lovely because you do not often hear of love stories like this one emerging from an athletic world of broken relationships, custody battles, and bankruptcy.  Furthermore, I believe that their love lives on in Mr. Draft as well as in the Chris Draft Family Foundation which is a non-profit organization that focuses on character development, education, healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, personal responsibility, and self-discipline.

I thank Chris and Keasha for showing us all what love looks like.

There was a time when the doily was confined to Grandma’s house, but the lovely doily has made a strong comeback. Grannies and op-shops alike have been raided as bride-to-be’s search for doilies to decorate anything and everything.

From a kitchen tea to a wedding, the doily can be used on any occasion. They belong perfectly in a rustic or vintage wedding theme, but don’t dismiss them as a theme of their own!

Doilies aren’t just back in fashion, they’re bigger, better and being used more creatively than ever before. The doily comeback has been impacting upon design and we’ve seen doily inspired stationary, baking cups and a whole host of accessories.

Today I thought I’d share some gorgeous doily images and ideas in case you missed their recent revival…

Hanging doilies…

Heart doily…

Candle doilies…

Doily dessert…

Doily bomboniere…

Doily bouquet…

Doily invitations…

Doily bunting…

A huge thanks to the extremely talented Heidi of White Loft Studio for sharing the beauty with us today!

“Mary + Dave recently relocated to Boston and hosted their wedding at the Back Bay Hotel, right downtown…it was the perfect venue for an intimate wedding. The day was full of emotion – Mary + Dave are just so simply in love and beautiful inside and out. Mary’s brother performed the ceremony, and his emotion was so sweet. The city was the perfect backdrop for their images as we walked and shot along the way…I loved their cocktail hour which was held on the hotel’s alfresco dining area under a canopy of lights…and followed by an amazing sit down dinner. Mary’s simple + elegant gown by Nicole Miller was perfection and I adored all of the soft white to cream to pink tones that were carried throughout all of their details.”…
